Pin Light Blend Mode: is a underrated blend mode used to create a foggy (low contrast) effect on images. To get this effect set the color fill saturation to “37” and the black to “73”, before changing the “color fill” layer blend mode to “Pin Light”.

Practice 01:
1. Change the “Color Fill” layer blend mode to “Pin Light”
What happens is it blend the color with the underlying image (layer below), creating a foggy effect (low contrast blending) with the image.

It is also used for creating a realistic light effect

Practice 02:
1. Turn off the “Color Fill” layer
2. Turn on the “Light” adjustment layer
3. Change it blend mode to “Pin Light”
What will happen, is it makes the lighting look realistic on the subject, making the bright areas brighter and saturated, and opening the shadows slightly, unlike the hard light blend mode which open the shadows.
