Blend Modes | Lighter Color Blend Mode

Blend modes, also known as blending modes are use to determine how colors from two or more layers interact and blend together to create a composite image. in this Article, you will learn about Adobe Photoshop “LIGHTER COLOR” blend mode and what it is used for, with image to practice with. How to Open PSD file
Double click on the downloaded PSD file, if you've installed Photoshop, it will automatically open.

Lighter Color Blend Mode: Use to blend two different images by hiding the dark areas in the image it's applied to. 

Note:
The “Lighter Color” blend mode is different from the lighten blend mode, while the “Lighten” blend mode changes the color  of the dark areas in an image, the “Lighter Color” blend mode point out (highlight) the dark areas in the image by making a sharp color artifact around it.

Practice 01:
1. Turn on the “Copy” layer by clicking on the eye icon
2. Change it blend mode to “Lighter Color”
What happens is that, it hides the dark areas leaving only the bright areas on the image visible.

Practice 02:
1. Turn off the “Copy” layer
2. Turn on the “Color Fill” layer
3. Change it blend mode to “Lighter Color”
What happen is that it point out (highlights) the dark areas in the image by making a color artifact of the dark areas
